Senior celebrations

The Whitehaven Community Living Center is celebrating NationalNursing Home Week this week.

Events include:

Today at 2 p.m.: Mother's Day Tea

Monday at 2 p.m.: Mexican Fiesta

Tuesday at 2 p.m.: Tacky Tuesday/Fashion Show

Wednesday at 10 a.m.: Waikiki beach fun with entertainment by DJHarold

Thursday at 6:30 p.m.: Senior Prom

Friday at 2 p.m.: Talent show

Hollywood is coming to Whitehaven Living Center, participants areencouraged to dress as their favorite Film Star

Saturday at 2 p.m.: Spring into Summer with a Popsicle Social

Senior Expo

The 21st annual Senior Expo will be held at the Agricenter, 7777Walnut Grove, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. This free eventcelebrates Older Americans Month. Enjoy live entertainment,workshops, cooking demonstrations and more. As part of the fun, theLewis Center is sponsoring a Tea Dance from 1 to 3 p.m. with musicby the Jim Mahannah Band.

'Relics' extended

Due to poplar demand, Christian Brothers University is extendingthe "Relic Collection," belonging to the De La Salle Archives of theChristian Brothers of the Midwest District, through May 31 .

The 358 relics are exhibited publicly once every three years sothat students and others interested can view them and learn aboutthe relics' history in the Catholic tradition. For an object to beclassified as a relic, it must be certified as authentic by churchauthority and may not be bought or sold for money.

The exhibit is free and open to the public from 7:45 a.m. to 11p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays; and 1-11 p.m. Sundays. Hours may vary due to university schedules. Call321-3243 to verify, or visit cbu.edu/library.

Visible showcase

Memphis-based Visible Music College will host "Best of VisibleShowcase: Celebrating 10 Years of Music," a showcase of alumni,staff and current student artists, at 7 p.m. Friday, at 1015 S.Cooper, in Midtown. The event is free and open to the public.

Computer classes

Meritan is offering complimentary basic computer and Internetnavigation instruction to adult learners at Southwest TennesseeCommunity College's Macon Cove campus from 9:30 a.m. to noon May 13and 27. Students will learn basic computer operations and beintroduced to the Internet where they will learn searching basicsand using e-mail. Pre-registration is required.
