NT: Police warn motorists against using main road to WA

DARWIN, Feb 27 AAP - Motorists travelling between Western Australia and the NorthernTerritory should avoid the Victoria Highway because of heavy floods, police said today.

Victoria Highway is a major road linking WA to the NT.

It comes as police continue to search for a man missing after his vehicle became trappedon a flooded bridge over the swollen Victoria River, near the Victoria River Roadhouse,about 200 km south-west of Katherine.

The Victoria River Bridge was currently about 3.5 metres underwater, Katherine policeacting Superintendent David Pryce said.
