NSW: Victoria Road closed after bedding store blaze
SYDNEY, April 10 AAP - Fire ripped through a furniture and bedding store overnight,forcing the partial closure of Victoria Road in Sydney's inner-west.
A fire brigade spokesman said crews were called to the bedding store in Drummoyne about12.50am (AEST).
He said 50 firefighters from 10 stations took an hour to control the blaze, which wasfuelled by foam and plastics.
Producing large amounts of smoke, the fire destroyed the store, although crews managedto save buildings on either side.
The store's front wall remains, but is cracked and in danger of falling.
As a result, Victoria Road's westbound lane has been closed to traffic throughout themorning while engineers assess the damage to the wall.
An investigation into the cause of the blaze is under way.
